ART-TECH PACIFIC RIM INITIATIVE
Art-Tech CTO heads to Thailand for special Art & Technology Seminar hosted by Faculty of Fine Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi
Thailand coat-of-arms   Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Thailand - Faculty of Fine Arts

Dr. Baxter Garcia, Art-Tech CTO, along with James Alan Longo from LELA (www.LE-LA.org), will be invited guests at a special Seminar in Art & Technology sponsored by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology, Thanyaburi, (FFARMUTT) on March 22-23.

Baxter and Al have been active in Thailand over the past year conducting the LELA Art Therapy Program for tsunami relief, in collaboration with several Thai universities.    FFARMUTT has recently reorganized and is exploring the possibility of integrating a broad range of digital new media courses into its revamped curriculum.  Such an initiative is timely;  ICT technologies have an expanding influence throughout Thailand, encouraged by government agencies such as Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, NECTEC and government-sponsored programs like SchoolNet, the BudgetPC Initiative and the Royal Thai Distance Learning Foundation

In a rapidly globalizing world, Thailand has joined an expanding group of Asian nations including  Singapore, Malaysia, China and S. Korea as a serious competitor in many high-tech fields such as web services, mobile computing and digital multimedia.  To maintain global competitiveness, Thai universities will need to focus on a spectrum of digital technologies overlapping various academic disciplines including engineering, computer science and digital/new media arts.

FFARMUTT anticipates expanding its core curriculum with new media course offerings including:

Arts Technological Enterprise
Electronic Commerce in Arts Technology
Innovative Arts Technology
Digital Design
Digital Animation
Digital Photography
Digital Video
Internet Telecommunication Media Design
Multimedia Design Technology
Web Graphic Design
International Arts Technological Business
Space Arts Technology
Interactive Multimedia Design
Multimedia Game Design

Art-Tech will bring its depth of experience and its network of connections with individuals and organizations in the new media world, from Hollywood to Silicon Valley, in the US, Europe and beyond, to bear in helping FFARMUTT to design and implement a cutting-edge curriculum in new media and digital arts.  We are honored and privileged to work with the distinguished faculty at FFARMUTT and their colleagues at Rajamangala University of Technology in their efforts to provide Thai students with tools and skills that will make them competitive in today's global technology-driven marketplace.
